Helpful Words For The Better By Ericka Chipman Tiger Town Times Staff Writer Here is a message to say that no matter what people will say to you, you aren’t those rude comments. Only you know what you are. If what someone says is rude and harsh just know, that’s not a fact. You are most likely an amazing human, you only know what you are and you only know who you are. Don’t let people label you. Don’t listen to others because the only person that knows you is you. Stay positive. If someone insults you, that’s their opinion, and it doesn’t mean it is true. It may hurt but keep your head up and know that what you make of yourself is who you are. Labels will not create you. People will try to break you down but know that there will always be someone out there who supports you, no matter what. There’s always someone out there who loves you, who cares for you, who thinks you are amazing. Don’t focus on the bad, let the good stick out in the dark harsh words you may get and your life might get a little brighter, slowly but surely.

Tiger Town Times Staff Writer You know those moments when just really want to do something but your too embarrassed or you just don’t think it’s worth it? Well, think again because there’s a National Just Because Day. We’ve all had those times when we just want to scream outside really loud or even just do something funny in public. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait any longer because today, August 27th is that day. I’ve had moments where I just want to go outside to dance around in the rain and also just start saying funny things out my window. I know it might sound silly but hey, today is that day to get all those so-called embarrassing or not-so-worth-it moments out in the open. That person you’ve been wanting to be friends with, all those times you just ugh, let’s say give back or want to sing and dance in public. One thing I can say is “just do it!” It’s so amazing that we have a “Just Because” day. So get out the house and give someone a dollar, buy yourself that really cute hoodie you’ve been wanting. Next time you don’t want to do something because you think people will find it weird, think again! You’re not alone. There are so many people that participate in this day. What’s even more interesting is that Red Lobster is supposed to be giving away its delicious cheddar biscuits ‘just because.” How great is that?! They have no reason to do that. Can you guess why? In closing, I just have one more thing to say: That outfit you really want? Go get it. Let's get out and celebrate this special day, JUST BECAUSE! On Friday May 5th, Massillon Washington High School hosted the Naturalization ceremony. This ceremony is when immigrants come to the United States and become US citizens. This year there was a variety of countries that these citizens came from including Ghana, India, United Kingdom, Philippines, Panama, Canada, China, Iraq, India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Morocco, Liberia, Jordan, Zimbabwe, Burma and Kenya. This is a very nice opportunity to show students what immigrants have to do to become US citizens, and how happy they are to be liberated.
Washington High School’s Jazz band performed at a local and upcoming bar/restaurant, The Wicked Pickle. They played many songs including Buffalo Wing, because of the theme of the restaurant. |
